Vision & Sound Symposium 2025
The Center for the Study of Race and Democracy (CSRD), in partnership with the Sedona Arts Center, is hosting the third annual Vision & Sound symposium in Sedona, Arizona from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Vision & Sound is a month-long Arizona program that showcases the emerging and established Arizona-based African American artists.
This year’s keynote speaker is ASU professor and Arts Race Democracy Fellow LaTasha Barnes, influential and internationally recognized choreographer, dance artist, and scholar, with supporting artists. All are welcome to attend and to participate in this dynamic program that will feature a keynote address, interactive workshop led by ASU Institute Professors and Race, Arts and Democracy Fellows Liz Lerman, Sumana Mandala, and dialogues with this year's accomplished 2025 Vision & Sound artists.
Sedona Arts Center CEO Julie Richard and CSRD Director Lois Brown, PhD are the co-hosts of the program and will facilitate the dialogues with this year's artists.
Vision & Sound, first launched in 2016 by Norma and Michael Cunningham of Goodyear, Arizona, is a unique Arizona program that engages cities and towns across the state. Vision & Sound exhibitions and events create opportunities to learn more about the creative work of African American artists in Arizona and provide unique opportunities to engage with them.
