Join The Design School for the inaugural Let's Be Better Humans: Community Meal! The Community Meal is a welcoming space for fostering empathy, forging community relationships and showcasing students’ innovative solutions in response to homelessness.
Inspired by the documentary I Have A Name, which follows photographer Jon Linton’s journey capturing the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness in Phoenix (and later on expanding to Portland), this Community Meal will feature student-designed interventions and creative solutions aimed at supporting Maricopa County’s homeless population.
The Community Meal, designed by Asha Ramaswamy, is hosted by ASU InnovationSpace The Unhoused Project, a life-centered design course affiliated with The Design School and Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. The goal of the course is to use I Have A Name as a catalyst to reframe the homelessness crisis as a life-centered design challenge.
Come share a meal, engage in meaningful conversations and be part of a community-driven effort to create empathy and spark change.
