Join us for a discussion with Dr. Farida Jalalzai, a professor and associate dean for Global Initiatives and Engagement in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech, on global trends of women in leadership and how they relate to the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

About the Speaker 

Dr. Farida Jalalzai

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Farida Jalalzai is the Associate Dean for Global Initiatives and Engagement in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences and Professor of Political Science at Virginia Tech. Her research analyzes the role of gender in the political arena and focuses extensively on women as national leaders. 

Her books include: Shattered, Cracked and Firmly Intact: Women and the Executive Glass Ceiling Worldwide (Oxford University Press 2013); Women Presidents of Latin America: Beyond Family Ties? (Routledge 2016), Senhora Presidenta: Women's Empowerment and Disempowerment in Brazil: The Rise and Fall of President Dilma Rousseff (with Pedro dos Santos, 2021 Temple University Press).
