Digital Humanities Coffee Hour with Andrea Noguera Henao
February 20th from 11am-12pm MT | Discovery Hall 281
The Digital Humanities Initiative, housed in the Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics, is thrilled to announce that our February DH Coffee Hour will feature the scholarship and digital project of Andrea Noguera Henao.
This talk focuses on the intersection of digital humanities and instructional design through the lens of a website developed as part of Henao's dissertation on trauma and grief in Colombian autobiographical writing. The site functions as a digital companion to her research, offering an interactive platform where academic content is made accessible to diverse audiences, from students to general readers.
During the presentation, Henao will demonstrate how the website showcases core findings from her dissertation while employing principles of instructional design to enhance user engagement and understanding. The site includes features that guide visitors through complex narratives. These elements aim to bridge the gap between academic research and public knowledge, aligning with the goals of digital humanities to make scholarship both impactful and inclusive.
By highlighting the challenges and opportunities encountered in this project, Henao hopes to inspire conversations about the transformative potential of digital tools in research and teaching. This talk also underscores the value of interdisciplinary skills in modern academia, particularly the integration of design thinking and technology to innovate within the humanities.
