Día de los Muertos is a multi-day holiday wherein family and friends gather to pay respects and to remember friends and family members who have passed.

Traditionally the deceased are honored with calaveras (decorated skulls) and marigold flowers, building ofrendas (altars) with the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these items as gifts for the deceased.
